A literary review kicks off the season of events for summer 2021 in the Castellana Caves (Ba). “Let’s take back the Bastille – Books and civil rights in the Castellana Caves”, this is the title of the three-day thematic organized symbolically in conjunction with the recurrence of the storming of the Bastille, an emblematic event of the French revolution, which will focus attention on important current issues . Appointment for three evenings, from 12 to 14 July at 20:00, in the wonderful setting of the Caverna della Fonte.
The first meeting, Monday 12 July, will turn on the lights on the theme “Women and violated rights”, with the presentation of the book “Le cose giuste” (Rizzoli) by Silvia Ferreri, Rai writer and journalist. The book of the finalist for the Strega Prize, with her previous work tells “La madre di Eva”, five stories of women who life wanted to challenge and who have chosen to start over and regain their rights.
Mafias, slavery and trampled dignity at the center of the presentation on Tuesday 13 July. The protagonist is Leonardo Palmisano, entrepreneur, writer and author of several surveys as well as an expert in work, migration and organized crime, with “Black Ax – The brutal intelligence of the Nigerian mafia” (Fandango Libri), a book that talks about the intervention of foreign mafias in the fabric economic Apulian and national.
Finally, Wednesday 14 July, attention paid to dictatorships and freedom of expression with Marco Bechis, director and writer who in the book “The solitude of the subversive” (Guanda) talks about his experience as a desaparecido in 1977. Survived the Argentine dictatorship, in his notebooks and in his memories, Bechis has kept an impressive amount of data so that they could serve him, in an indefinite day, to have justice. Fabio Macaluso, communications and copyright lawyer, will support Bechis in the presentation.
For all the appointments to introduce the writers and their works there will be Luigi Taccone, author and television and theatrical director. All presentations will be preceded by a short tour of the Castellana Caves which will lead to the Caverna della Fonte (appointment at the ticket office at 7.45 pm, descent at 8.00 pm).
